About the opportunity Due to the ongoing success at Big Bell, Westgold Resources are on the lookout for a motivated, detail-oriented Production Engineer to join the team on a permanent 8/6 roster (Days). Reporting to the Mining Manager of Cue Gold Operations, the Production Engineer will provide technical support to the mining operations team, ensuring that production targets are met; and safe and accurate plans are delivered in a timely manner.
In November 2023, the Board approved expansion of Big Bell to the zone beneath the existing sub level cave using an open stoping with paste fill mining method. This zone is expected to extend the overall mine life of Big Bell to more than 16 years while simultaneously increasing the mined grade.
The role includes Completion of drilling plans aligned with 13WK schedule Completion of charging plans Teleremote plans for underground bogging activities Preparation of short-term weekly schedules Assume responsibilities as Ventilation Officer (if required) Completion of Primary and Secondary Ventilation Surveys in accordance with WA Mine regulations Adhere to Project Operation Safety Plan (POSP) QA/QC duties to ensure safety and productivity of drill and blast activities underground Highlight key activities and critical path processes of budgets, forecasts and weekly plans Track operational performance of key indicators and report to management Manage and administrate contractor database systems (Plodtrack and Livemine) Manage ad hoc projects as directed by the Senior Mining Engineer and Underground Manager Propose and implement business improvement initiatives Propose and participate in process improvements within the organization What do I need? Tertiary qualification in Engineering (mining preferred) At least 2 years' experience in UG Mine Engineering Previous exposure to underground drill and blast practices, preferably within a gold mine, to be able to design and implement drill and blast plans Working closely with production operations to achieve drill and blast excellence Display ability to plan and schedule safety parallel to mining physicals rather than having safety being managed downstream Knowledge of Deswik UGD Possesses a current and valid Manual Driver's Licence The Westgold Offer: A permanent full-time position at a successful gold producer Performance-based bonus Site Allowance (if applicable) Group salary continuous insurance A health and wellness allowance A range of Family and Medical leave policies that includes IVF, surrogacy and adoption 5 years' pro rata long service leave Salary sacrifice options Employee Assistance Program (EAP) that includes free confidential counselling, wellbeing services that include financial advice.
