About the opportunity Due to our recent merger and increased operational opportunities, we are looking for an experienced Mining Manager to join our team at our Meekatharra Operations. As a critical part of our site operations team, the Mining Manager is responsible for managing all facets of our mining activities at our Bluebird - South Junction Underground including technical and operational. Working with all technical departments and our in-house mining team, they will need to provide strategic leadership and technical expertise to ensure production, cost, and safety targets are met by the mining teams.
Bluebird is at the beginning of an exciting ramp-up phase as the mine transitions to a transverse open stoping method at the newly developed South Junction mining area. On the back of large resource and reserve increases in 2024, this opportunity will see the right candidate be able to make their mark on the fastest growing mine in Westgold's portfolio. With several exciting engineering expansion projects already in progress, there is a lot to like.
The role includes Demonstrate visible health and safety leadership, actively promoting safety whilst identifying and managing risks - develop strategies to mitigate potential issues. Encourage a good incident reporting culture, enforcing the importance and ensuring reporting requirements are met. Review and implement policies, procedures, and systems to enhance operational efficiency and productivity. Ensure the delivery of the budget for both physicals and costs are met by the mining teams. Continuously evaluate and improve operations to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and maximise productivity. Maintain a sound knowledge of all operational activities and costs whilst actively looking for cost reductions or improvement opportunities. Mentor, train and develop senior members of the Technical Services team. Review and prepare operating plans, budgets, and capital expenditure proposals. Provide regular reports and updates for senior management and executives on the status of mining operations. Develop and manage cost models and KPIs for mining teams. What do I need? WA First Class Mine Managers Ticket. Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering. 10+ years in a mining leadership role. Competent in Mining Software (Deswik / Surpac). Proficient user of Microsoft Suite. Ability to plan and schedule safety parallel to mining physicals. Proven budgeting and cost control experience.
