JOB DESCRIPTION This critical role will be responsible for driving safety outcomes by influencing and supporting managers, leadership teams, employees, and contractors/visitors in the application of safety risk management practices and processes. In addition, this role will also be responsible for:
Providing expertise and professional advice on WHS issues and investigating and resolving any safety problems, complaints, issues raised in consultation with operational managers and staff. Developing WHS policies, guidelines, and procedure to support the effective implementation of WHS practices. Undertaking safety inspections and reviews, ensuring the implementation of recommendations where appropriate and compliance with company and legal standards. Supporting and actively participating in the implementation, administration and evaluation of program delivery safety improvement initiatives, training, technologies, processes, and procedures. Providing safety reports and maintaining registers, ensuring these clearly indicate what has been achieved in safety and what are current requirements/issues. Coordinating strategies and implementing risk controls and contributing to the improvement of WHS processes and guidelines. Engagement with relevant industry bodies to maintain a high level of WHS Management competency and best practice approaches in respect of HSE, operational risk and environmental management. Overseeing the relevant Safety committees and lead in the Worker's Compensation and Injury Management function. Providing safety guidance, training and education to management and staff. Overseeing and managing the training and onboarding for the company. JOB CRITERIA To be successful in this role, you will possess:
Tertiary qualifications (e.g.: Bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety, or equivalent, with Diploma (WHS) and relevant work experience) Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (with LLN Unit of Competency) Sustained experience in WHS and Environmental management positions. Worked within a multi-discipline/multi-function environment. Practical experience in the principal WHS functions Intellectual capacity and emotional intelligence consistent with the demands of this position Strong analytical skills Articulate, well developed verbal and written communication skills. Sound computer skills Ability to lead as well as work in a team environment. Willingness to travel to other sites.
