West Tamar Council has an exciting opportunity to join our dynamic Planning & Development team, to commence as soon as possible.

With an employee base of 140 people (120FTE), you will be joining a diverse and inclusive team.

About the Job If you want to make a tangible impact on public health and the environment; enjoy educating the public and businesses on best practices for environmental health – this is the role for you!

You will be rewarded with a salary range of between $91,278 to $117,214 + employer super up to 15% (after probation) + a nine-day fortnight + no debit – no credit personal leave + the ability to negotiate flexible work arrangements in line with Council's Enterprise Agreement.

About you We are looking for someone who brings:
At least 3 years' experience in a similar role within a Local Government or similar industry.
Tertiary qualifications in Health Science (Environmental Health) to the satisfaction of the Tasmanian Director of Public Health.
Strong investigative skills, including evidence gathering and applying legislation with sound judgement based on risk management principles.
Proven knowledge of, and experience in assessing applications and investigating complaints related to environmental health, public health, and food businesses within a Local Government framework.
Undertaking assessments of on-site wastewater treatment systems.
Demonstrated problem solving and out-of-the-box thinking to resolve complex issues.
Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
Essential to hold a current driver's licence.
