Catholic Schools Parramatta Diocese (CSPD) is a system of schools committed to responding to the needs of students in a world that is changing rapidly. Our Wellbeing Team has a focus that will develop and execute a range of strategies to respond to the wellbeing and mental health needs of our students. We are seeking passionate and professional school-based Wellbeing Counsellors to join our team for 2025.
About the opportunity: We are seeking collaborative and skilled individuals who will deliver a range of services. You will deliver high level advice and proactivity in the area of supporting learning and teaching. You will work in collaboration with teachers in learning spaces and partner with the leadership team. More specifically you will:
Collaborate with schools and other professionals to promote school-wide mental health and wellbeing initiativesEngage with families to support their child and to strengthen home-school partnerships across different schoolsProvide individual and group counselling with students as well as working with school and other parts of CSDP in the identification and implementation of reasonable adjustmentsLiaise with external agencies and professionals to enhance student supportSupport leaders and staff to respond effectively to student welfareCollaborate with key stakeholders to design personalised plans for studentsAbout you: To be successful in this highly rewarding role you will demonstrate alignment to the core purpose and values of CSPD along with:
Demonstrated understanding of the mental health needs of children and young peopleExperience in counselling children and young people using evidence-based interventionsExperience in cognitive, emotional and behavioural assessment of children and young peopleMinimum of 3 years experience as a registered Psychologist or Social WorkerBe a registered psychologist or a social worker eligible for membership of the Australian Association of Social WorkersCapacity to make a significant contribution within schools to matters related to student welfare and wellbeingDemonstrate evidence-based professionally informed judgement in dealing with sensitive issuesDemonstrate the capacity to engage students, parents and teachers in the counselling processThe capability to facilitate parent and caregiver educationBe supportive of our Catholic ethosQualifications and accreditations: Relevant tertiary qualificationsEligible for membership with Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) OR general registration as a psychologist with The Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)Compliance with NSW Child Protection Legislation - Working with Children Check clearanceWe believe that our employee community is a key strength of our organisation and we aim to attract the best talent to achieve our strategic goal of being leaders in quality, faith-based education and an Employer of Choice in our sector.
