Our game is for everyone, and we strive to be a workplace for everyone.Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are encouraged to apply.ABOUT THE ROLEThe Wellbeing Coordinator - North Tas will become a member of the AFL's Mental Health and Wellbeing team and is responsible for supporting wellbeing strategies designed to enhance the development of youth athletes in a high-performance sporting environment. The role is focused on providing education, support, and guidance to help players to pursue personal wellbeing and mental fitness, strive for a sport-life balance and build social capital.The position will provide an opportunity to work in a dynamic wellbeing team who strive for innovation in areas of health, wellbeing and positive psychology. The AFL has a sustained passion for growing young people on and off the football field, and this role works closely alongside coaching and administrative staff to uphold that responsibility in holistically developing players throughout their time in the AFL's Tasmanian Devils Program.The role requires attendance at afternoon trainings, weekend games, and occasional intra- and interstate travel.This role is a part-time (15 hours per week) seasonal maximum term position to 31 October 2025.A DAY IN THE LIFE OFKey Accountabilities:• Facilitating the development and implementation of wellbeing strategies with players in the football environment• Working closely with other Tas Talent Wellbeing Coordinators in both South and North West regions• Managing the delivery of a wellbeing curriculum for players• Attendance of training and matches (at Program's discretion)• Relationship management with key Program staff for a consistent approach to the development of players (on and off field) during their time in the program• Provide individual support and guidance to help players to pursue personal wellbeing and mental fitness, strive for a sport-life balance and build social capital.• Guide and counsel players on appropriate themes that present in their lives as athletes and young people• Advocate for Safeguarding children and ensuring we are doing all we can to keep children within our programs safe at all times.OUR IDEAL TEAM MEMBERCore Competencies:• Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills including the ability to effectively liaise with diverse stakeholder groups including players, coaches, parents and other staff• Ability to engage young people and build trust and rapport• Understanding of processes pertaining to medical and allied health referral services• Flexibility in responding to the unique needs of youth high-performance athletes• Demonstrated growth mindset.Mandatory:• Bachelor qualification in Education, Psychology, Health or related field (completed or in the process of completing)• Previous experience in working with adolescents and topics related to wellbeing• Understanding and experience with Safeguarding Children processes and practices• Either have completed or have a willingness to complete:o Youth Mental Health First Aid Certificateo ASSIST training.OUR CULTUREPlease visit www.afl.com.au/careers/our-organisation.Applications Close: 30 September 2024.
