Fabrication and Welding Manager Ventia is seeking an experienced Fabrication and Welding Manager to oversee operations across four fabrication locations for the Square Kilometre Array Observatory (SKAO) project.
This critical role will ensure the management of all welding and fabrication activities, maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficiency across all locations.
Initially based in Welshpool , this position will transition to the project site in Western Australia by the last quarter of 2025 , working a 14-day on, 7-day off FIFO roster (800km north of Perth).
Key Responsibilities: Supervise and manage operations across four fabrication locations to ensure quality, safety, and timely project deliverables Oversee daily pre-start meetings, planning, scoping, and construction activities to ensure efficient execution Lead and manage fabrication crews, mentoring and motivating teams to maintain high productivity and morale Collaborate with designers and logistics teams to ensure timely availability of materials and equipment Ensure all fabrication and welding work complies with Ventia, client standards, and regulatory requirements Provide ongoing oversight to ensure work meets standards About You: Working towards Certificate 10 welding qualification, with proven experience in managing fabrication and welding operations Solid experience in a supervisory role overseeing multiple fabrication locations Ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and stay well-organized and focused.
Previous experience with Directional Drilling, Rip & Plough, and Open Trenching techniques is an advantage Telecommunications experience is a plus Strong communication and relationship-building skills Proficient in Microsoft Office suite and project management tools Valid HR/MC driver's license and current First Aid qualifications About Ventia Ventia is a leading infrastructure services company, operating across Australia and New Zealand.
