The whole-of-nation effort to safely and securely deliver the cutting-edge nuclear-powered submarine program will transform Australia's economic and national security landscape for decades to come.The Sovereign Submarine Program Delivery (SSPD) Branch of the Australian Submarine Agency (ASA) seeks an expert, motivated Welding Inspector to join our Adelaide team responsible for delivering Australia's SSN-AUKUS nuclear-powered submarines.The Welding Inspector is responsible for assuring the welding quality elements of the shipbuilder's processes and procedures and for conducting technical assessments to assure the construction of Australia's nuclear submarines, ensuring they meet the exacting standards of the Australian Nuclear Regulator, Royal Australian Navy, and our AUKUS partners.The Welding Inspector will provide detailed technical, professional, and policy advice in relation to SSN-AUKUS welding, contributing to strategic planning, program and project management, and policy development as required.Reporting to the Senior Product Verification Inspector, in this role you will develop close relationships with the Quality Assurance auditors and Test and Evaluation team to harmonise and manage complex technical data systems that will coordinate and manage assurance and test data generated across SSPD.About our TeamWithin the ASA, SSPD is accountable for delivering Australia's SSN-AUKUS class submarines from a new, purpose-built submarine construction yard in Osborne, South Australia. This requires identification of the most appropriate program delivery model and construction methodology, defining infrastructure requirements, analysing and modelling existing Australian industry and workforce capability and capacity, and undertaking cost estimation for acquiring and sustaining the future Nuclear-Powered Submarine fleet in consultation with our AUKUS partners.SSPD consists of the following directorates: Business and Operations, Build, Test and Evaluation, Commercial Management, Engineering, and Shipyard Infrastructure. The Build, Test and Evaluation Directorate of SSPD is responsible for assuring delivery of Australian SSN-AUKUS submarines that meet the approved design safely and efficiently while complying with the cost and schedule agreed with Government. The task is diverse and challenging.
