Australia is leveraging the technology, capability and design expertise from the UK and US.
These roles will be involved in evaluating and analysing a variety of considerations such as design, construction, maintenance, installations and infrastructure, within the Australian context.
This will require supporting the definition and development of technical advice for the future nuclear-powered capability.
To achieve this, we seek Chief and Deputy Chief Engineers in the following areas:
Submarine Construction including:Submarine Alongside and Depot MaintenanceNuclear/radiological related Submarine maintenance and construction InfrastructureThe skills required to fulfill these roles include applied knowledge and understanding of:
Design and design control of Submarine (or Naval Ship) Platform Systems including their integration with whole of boat.Working within, and exercising, a delegated level of Technical Authority.Ensuring construction activities achieve and/or maintenance activities maintain the design intent through life of Platform Systems.Development and interpretation of engineering artefacts such as technical reports and drawings, including the ability to synthesise outcomes of specific engineering analysis.These roles will benefit from a minimum of 10 years and preferably 15 years of relevant experience in an applicable domain with experience from a variety of engineering disciplines, including but not limited to:
Electrical EngineeringMechanical EngineeringMechatronics EngineeringNaval ArchitectureCivil EngineeringAs a member of the Technical Division, you will continue to grow your subject matter expertise, be accountable for exercising any assigned authorities and providing objective quality evidence.
Your role may range from being very specialist in nature to quite broad, depending on your area of work and expertise.
You may also have the opportunity to work across streams.
To excel in these roles, you will be required to:
Execute delegated Technical Authority Delegations.Support the relevant Whole of Submarine Safety Case (WSSC) approval, amendment and review.Undertake technical assurance of construction and maintenanceProvide research and recommendations at the appropriate level for Upkeep, Upgrade and Update.Research, recommend, and endorse relevant waterfront related submarine and infrastructure plant operating documentation.With the approval of the Branch head, sub delegate safety and technical signatory authority within their delegated system capability to an appropriate level.Support development of ASA technical and organisational frameworks.Support other duties as assigned.Please note: There are currently a number of roles which will be recruited for in order of priority and business need.
If you are successful in your application and the assessment process but have not been suitable for one of the high priority roles, you will be placed in a merit pool and notified as positions become available.
