Water Treatment Plant Upgrade

Meeting the needs of Melbourne's expanding population
CPB Contractors worked with Melbourne Water to deliver the Western Treatment Plant – Treatment Capacity Increase Project in a 50:50 joint venture with fellow CIMIC Group company, UGL.
The design and construct contract generated a combined revenue to the joint venture partners of approximately $127 million over a four year period.
This significant project supported Melbourne Water in meeting the needs of Melbourne's expanding population, now and into the future, and it is an example of the complementary capabilities of the CIMIC Group and UGL.
We were pleased to contribute our world-class design and construction techniques and innovative environmental solutions to deliver the second stage of the upgrade to the Western Treatment Plant for Melbourne Water, and to build a cost-efficient asset of ongoing value.
The project involved the design and construction of a new sewage treatment facility with a hydraulic capacity of 140ML/day.
The new treatment facility was designed to integrate with the existing Western Treatment Plant, which is located in Werribee.
Construction commenced in early 2017, with commissioning occurring at the end of 2018, following which the joint venture undertook operations and maintenance of the plant until the end of 2020.
