PRIMARY OBJECTIVE: Contributes to operational effectiveness by undertaking systemic investigations and computer-based modelling analysis of water supply and sewerage networks across major and minor urban areas and remote communities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Functional: Undertake analysis and assessment of network performance using network modelling software (WaterGEMS, SewerGEMS, or equivalent) and other network analysis tools, including improvement, development, and maintenance of the network models.Preparation of strategic plans for water supply and sewerage networks that inform master planning, operational improvements, and capital investment programs.Identify, investigate, assess, and evaluate from an engineering, economic, and environmental perspective, water supply or sewerage network upgrades required to accommodate development proposals and to achieve standards of service, regulatory compliance, operational flexibility, or commercial objectives.Liaise with internal and external clients on issues pertaining to development impact on existing water supply and sewerage networks. Leadership: Builds relationships and encourages collaboration.Accountable and holds others accountable for meeting commitments.Uses different techniques to communicate to audiences.Helps promote change and is prepared to take on new challenges. Safety and Environment: Take all practicable steps to ensure your own safety, the safety of PWC staff and contractors, the public, and their property.Demonstrate a proactive approach to safety through field audits, risk assessments, and hazard management strategies.Contribute to timely and accurate investigations as part of an ICAM team.Seek to reduce the environmental impact of the organisation through compliance with legislative, regulatory, and licence requirements. Project Management: Effectively undertake investigations, develop concept and detailed designs, specifications, and justifications for capital and operational business cases in accordance with the strategic needs of Water Services, noting that delivery of capital projects will generally be by others.Prepare and monitor scopes, budgets, cash flows, and resource requirements as necessary to successfully deliver allocated projects. Quality: Support a continuous improvement culture, developing and reviewing processes and procedures to ensure they are current and relevant to legislative, regulatory, and other work requirements. SELECTION CRITERIA: Qualification and Skills Experience: Essential: Mandatory minimum 3 or 4 year Science or Engineering degree that is recognised in Australia and is relevant to hydraulic analysis/modelling.Significant knowledge and experience in the development, analysis, and assessment of water supply and sewerage network performance utilising computer-based system analysis tools and hydraulic modelling software (such as WaterGEMS and SewerGEMS).Proven ability to work effectively and efficiently under minimal supervision, meet deadlines, and effectively prioritise workload.High level interpersonal, oral and written communication and negotiation skills.Ability to foster positive working relationships across key stakeholders and a culturally diverse range of customers.Current NT Driver's licence or ability to obtain. Desirable: Project management qualifications.Demonstrated experience in negotiating with government, developers, and consultants.Demonstrated ability to research, analyse systems, and report accurately and concisely.
