Water NSW has been engaged by the Department of Planning and Environment – Water (now DCCEEW) to collaborate with regional councils and LWUs to deliver key elements of the TWRRP.
Through this program, Water NSW will share our knowledge and experience in dam safety management systems and in source water quality management, working in partnership with councils.
Our aim is to leverage Water NSW's expertise in the areas that we work in, to enable LWUs to improve their dam safety and/or address water quality risks.
The Role: As the Water Quality Strategy Lead, you will work in collaboration with regional councils and LWUs to improve source water management and associated drinking water quality outcomes for NSW regional towns.
This will include: Catchment hazard assessment and risk management reports Raw water characterisations Risk based source water monitoring programs Raw water management supporting documentation Training sessions, workshops and associated documentation for knowledge transfer to LWUs As technical lead, you will provide guidance and work closely with the team manager to deliver the Town Water Risk Reduction Program source water quality workstream.
You will also be involved in the following: Working collaboratively with Water Quality Strategy Leads in the source water quality workstream, as well as the wider business, to deliver the TWRRP Providing training and mentorship to a team of Drinking Water Quality Technical Advisors Lead discussions with LWUs and their technical specialists and engineers to identify areas of risk and opportunity, for the development of the scope of works for each LWU Reviewing the team's deliverables to ensure accuracy, quality and that the necessary approvals have been sought prior to submission Reporting to the Team Leader and Program Manager on progress, program schedule, and risks and issues.
What we are looking for: Tertiary qualification in science or a related discipline Current NSW Drivers Licence Sound understanding of the water industry sector, work practices and systems relevant to drinking water supply.
Demonstrated extensive experience in water quality hazard assessment and risk mitigation.
Experience in the delivery of water quality improvement programs Experience in aquatic ecosystems, catchment and riverine hydrology or hydrogeology Extensive stakeholder engagement experience with highly developed written and verbal communication skills How we will support you: At Water NSW, we balance flexibility – and the way we work – with the needs of the business, our teams, and us as individuals.
