Concentis is partnering with Gladstone Area Water Board (GAWB) to source a Water Operator for the Water Treatment team.
The Gladstone Area Water Board (GAWB) is a commercial Statutory Authority whose purpose is to supply water in bulk to major consumers in the Gladstone Region. Those consumers comprise major industries, power generating organisations, and the Gladstone Regional Council. GAWB manages a variety of assets ranging from major water storage through to pump stations, pipelines, storage tanks and water treatment plants and operates and maintains recreational facilities including a fish fingerling hatchery and associated stocking program.
Their vision is to deliver safe and reliable water services to enhance the liveability of the region.
The role
Reporting to the Water Treatment Manager, your role is to support the daily operations of GAWB's two water treatment plants and treated water network. Your overall responsibilities will include performing routine asset inspections and minor maintenance to ensure plant reliability as well as monitoring of water quality to ensure it meets Australian Drinking Water Guidelines.
Oversee and operate GAWB's raw and potable water supply networks, including pump stations and pipelines. Respond to alarms, monitor pressures, and manage water treatment chemical stocks. Prepare pipelines for maintenance, conduct routine water sampling and testing and ensure sufficient reservoir levels. Monitor treated water quality online and address any deviations according to GAWB's Drinking Water Quality Management Plan. Operate and maintain GAWB's Yarwun Water Treatment Plants, including responding to alarms, preparing for maintenance, sampling/testing water, and recording operational data. Inspect and perform minor maintenance on plants and ensure facility security. About You:
Certificate III or IV in Water Industry Operations or equivalent or be happy to obtain. Current C Class Drivers license. Proficient in reading and interpreting maps and simple drawings. Demonstrated experience in the use of technology and instrumentation including calibration of equipment. Experience in the operation of water treatment plants or experience working in a processing plant environment. Ability to work shift style roster including day and night shifts. Benefits:
