This role will be responsible for navigating seasonal challenges, customer demands, and ensuring water availability through using a variety of compliance and enforcement tools to guarantee fair and equitable management of a public resource.
This role will be based in the Traralgon Office but will involve working across diverse locations covering the area from Noojee, Warragul, and Ellinbank across to Erica and Traralgon.
As the Water Management Officer, you will adopt a compassionate yet fair approach, applying SRW policies and directives firmly to maintain effective outcomes.
Responsibilities Inspect and report on water use and infrastructure relating to licensing activities.Undertake meter reading in a timely, accurate and efficient manner, liaising with customers as required.Within delegated authority, manage unregulated water systems, including rivers and streams.Implement actions outlined in Groundwater and Rivers operations and compliance plans.Interpret and apply relevant sections of the Water Act 1989 to meet SRW compliance objectives.About You The successful candidate for this position will be able to demonstrate some of the desired experience and abilities below:
Ability to work autonomously and with minimal supervision.Strong written and verbal skills, including the ability to compile clear, accurate, and detailed reports.Ability to interpret and apply sections of the Water Act 1989.Excellent investigative skills with demonstrated ability to research and resolve customer and public complaints on alleged unauthorized activities.Cert IV In Government Investigators would be highly regarded.If you are customer focused, compliance driven, and ready to get hands-on, we would love to hear from you!
