This is a recruitment pool to fill Permanent (Sessional, Part-Time or Full Time) or Fixed Term (Sessional, Part-Time or Full Time) appointments. * *Fixed Term appointments include the possibility of extension(s) and/or permanency. About the role: WA Country Health Service (WACHS) are seeking experienced Health Service Medical Practitioners, General Practitioners or Rural Generalists registered with either the Royal Australian College of General Practice (RACGP) or the Australian College Regional Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM) with skills additional skills in Emergency Medicine, Obstetrics, Anaesthetics, Surgery and/or General Medicine.
Rural Generalists are General practitioners who have expertise providing medical care for rural and remote or isolated communities. Rural Generalists have an understanding and respond to diverse needs of rural communities, applying population approach, primary care, secondary and emergency care, culturally engaged Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples' health care and providing specialised medical care in at least one additional discipline.
Rural Generalists are often the first to care for critically unwell patients and play a vital role in both medical stabilisation and preparing for transfer to another site for definitive care.
About the Pool: Joining the Generalist pool means submitting one application to be considered for multiple positions across WA Country Health Service (WACHS) throughout its validity period. You can specify your preferred locations and availability with your application. Remuneration: The advertised salary range is based on the following classifications under the WA Health System – Medical Practitioners - AMA Industrial Agreement 2022. Classification and level are determined by factors including qualifications, experience, type of medical registration, location and, fellowship assessment outcomes from the Royal Australian College of General Practice (RACGP) or the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM).
*Medical practitioners on casual contracts may be entitled to professional development allowance provided you do not hold a contract with another WA Health entity.

Information for Specialist International Medical Graduates. To be eligible for a permanent appointment to the Western Australian public sector, it is essential that you are an Australian citizen or hold permanent residency status in Australia.
We welcome applications from Specialist International Graduates (SIMGs); however, are only able to appoint those who have received a determination of 'Substantially Comparable' due to the limitation in supervision provisions. Those who have not applied for a comparability assessment with either the Royal Australian College of General Practice (RACGP) or Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM) will be placed on hold and not assessed until a determination can be provided. The RACGP / ACRRM fellowship assessment determines whether the training and qualifications of SIMG's are comparable to those of Australian-trained specialists in general practice. This assessment is crucial for ensuring that all practitioners comply with Australian standards.
Information regarding pathways to becoming a registered practitioner in Australia is in the attached Application Guide. Please Note: SIMGs under RACGP or ACRRM supervision period as part of the college specialist assessment process will be placed on a Health Service Medical Practitioner (HSMP) (or as appropriate) contract until Specialist registration is reflected on the AHPRA website.
