Demonstrated commitment in the application of Primary Health Care Principles to community based midwifery practice with knowledge and understanding of the cultural and social challenges relating to Aboriginal and Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) communities in rural/regional areas. Demonstrated ability to provide evidence based contemporary antenatal, postnatal care and parenting support within a multidisciplinary and interagency team. The Clinical Midwife is responsible for providing a high level of community-based maternity care to achieve the optimum state of health for individuals, families and communities. Provides effective and efficient preventive and early intervention programs to individuals and groups focusing on the social determinants of health.

Area Profile
WACHS Kimberley is the most northern health region of WACHS. The Kimberley region has approximately 200 Aboriginal communities, over 34 different Aboriginal language groups and 45 percent of the population are Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people. WACHS Kimberley consists of six hospitals, an inpatient mental health unit, three Community Directorates and a Corporate Office. WACHS Kimberley provides hospital, community health, public health, remote area health, community aged care, and mental health services across the region through a dedicated team of medical, nursing, Aboriginal health, allied health, and support staff.
