The Opportunity Cochlear has an exciting leadership opportunity for a seasoned finance professional to join our team as the VP of Financial Control. Reporting to the CFO, you will take charge of managing Cochlear's financial reporting obligations, ensuring compliance with ASX requirements, and overseeing all aspects of financial control and group consolidation across our global operations. This role demands a strong focus on leadership, technical accounting expertise, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of financial integrity.
Key Responsibilities Lead the preparation and consolidation of Cochlear's monthly internal accounts for over 30 countries, ensuring timely and accurate reporting while highlighting variances and key issues.Oversee the coordination and preparation of half-year and full-year statutory financial reports, including ASX and ASIC reporting, ensuring accuracy and compliance with all regulatory requirements.Manage Cochlear's accounting policies and internal controls, ensuring adherence to AIFRS and staying current with the latest accounting standards and Corporations Law.Serve as the primary contact for external auditors, managing the audit process and resolving any issues to ensure a smooth audit experience.Coordinate and prepare financial accounting reports for Audit Committees and Board meetings, including Group P&L, Balance Sheet, and updates on new accounting policies.Provide expert technical finance guidance and treatment for material transactions, new investments, and acquisitions, ensuring alignment with best practices and strategic goals.Collaborate with key internal stakeholders, including Tax, Treasury, and regional financial controllers, to provide guidance on finance policy, practice, and ad hoc analysis.Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the Finance team and across the organization, promoting process efficiencies and leveraging shared services in line with enterprise-wide transformation programs.Inspire and develop your team, fostering a high-performance culture that delivers best-in-class financial control and reporting, while also supporting strategic business initiatives.About You To excel in this role, you will bring:
Extensive Financial Control experience in an ASX-listed company, including preparing financial statements and accounting policies for Audit & Risk Committees, as well as delivering Executive and Board presentations.A proven track record in providing strong financial stewardship, leading complex consolidation, driving compliance, and maintaining a robust internal control environment.Strong communication, influencing, and presentation skills, with a demonstrated ability to build collaborative cross-functional relationships across geographies.A continuous improvement mindset and a history of delivering best practice in Group and shared service finance functions.A motivational leadership style with a proven ability to engage and develop talent, fostering a culture of excellence and accountability.Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and the ability to interpret and synthesize data implications.Proficiency in Tier 1 systems and experience with system process improvements, including ERP and BI.Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and financial modelling.Professional accounting qualifications (Chartered, CPA, or CIMA).If you feel that you have the skills and experience to be successful in this role and take on new challenges to build your career with Cochlear, please start your application by clicking the apply button below.
