The organisation

When people talk about the Flying Doctor, thoughts generally turn to red-bellied planes undertaking rescue missions in the Outback. However, the current Victorian story is one that reflects today's challenges for people living in remote and rural communities across the state. While we do still transport people by air and by road, this work is complemented by a range of primary health services that address the most common issues people living in country Victoria face when accessing health care.

Our services:

· Help overcome the burden of distance
· Enable people to receive care in their own community
· Help people take control of their own health
· Help overcome isolation.

Reporting to the Regional Lead – Gippsland and offered on a permanent part-time basis, the Volunteer Liaison Officer position provides onsite support for the Community Transport hub in their locations, including supervision and support for volunteer drivers, connecting with local stakeholders, and support the delivery of the Community Transport program in the community.

Accountabilities include:

- Identifying and managing the recruitment of volunteers to support ongoing service delivery
- Maintaining a high level of volunteer engagement within the Community Transport program through the regular meetings, events and initiatives
- Ensuring all drivers involved with the program are provided with the necessary training, supervision and mentoring
- Maintaining a safe and healthy working environment for volunteers, including vehicle safety
- Rotating site visits to support onsite needs, facilities management and liaison with volunteers and community stakeholders
- Working in conjunction with the Regional Lead to ensure service integration with local health services
- Supporting local community activities, initiatives and events

Knowledge, skills and personal qualities required:

- Demonstrated experience in the coordination and oversight of volunteers
- Relationship building and stakeholder engagement skills (volunteers, internal and external)
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills and the ability to work with diverse people
- Organisation and planning skills

This position will require regular travel and access to a fleet vehicle will be provided for work purposes.

The Volunteer Liaison Officer position is permanent and offered on a 0.5FTE basis.

(This position is also being offered in St Arnaud/Warracknabeal, Lakes Entrance and Central Gippsland and RFDS may offer combined sites to those willing to travel.)

Why join the Royal Flying Doctor Service:

- Work for Australia's most reputable charity (11 out of 12 years) and most trusted charity (last 3 years)
- Work for your community helping overcome the burden of distance, enabling care in the community, helping people take control of their own health and overcoming isolation
- Access to salary packaging for all employees
