About the role
As a member of a growing, collegial and talented team of musicians and fellow vocal staff, you will work with students of all ages and levels, work with district schools and also have the opportunity to perform in concerts with colleagues and visiting artists.
This position will play a crucial role in fostering musical excellence and passion among students at the ORC.
This position involves delivering high-quality, tailored vocal instruction to students of various skill levels, guiding their technical and artistic development.
Additionally, this role will require the applicant to direct and lead community choirs and vocal ensembles, creating enriching musical experiences for students and the community.
This position will include on-site teaching at the ORC as well as in-school education programs.
This position is a permanent part-time teaching role with scope to move towards full-time, given the right person and time to build their load.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical and Musical Development:

Provide individual and group voice lessons to students from primary school to community adult ages across all styles focusing on technique, musicality, and performance skills.
Assess student progress regularly and provide constructive feedback to support their growth and achievement.
Performance and Repertoire:

Prepare students for solo and ensemble performances, including recitals, competitions, and public concerts.
Hold two studio concerts per year for students.
Curate and select appropriate repertoire that aligns with students' abilities and goals, promoting a diverse and well-rounded musical experience.
Be prepared to perform with ORC staff and students throughout the ORC concert season.
Community Engagement and Ensemble Leadership:

Work in the community in a variety of roles, including choir direction, aged care performances, workshops, professional development
Foster a positive and collaborative environment in community activities.
Organize and oversee ensemble rehearsals, ensuring effective communication and coordination among members

Professional Development and Collaboration:

Attend staff training days once per term and keep up-to-date with current vocal pedagogy.
Be a communicative and present team player within the vocal department to support department priorities.
Engage with parents and guardians to provide updates on student progress and address any concerns.
Administrative Duties:

Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress, and assessments.
Assist with scheduling and coordinating performance events, both for individual students and ensembles.
Work with marketing and events team to help promote the conservatorium's programs and events.
Qualifications:

Bachelor degree in Music, with a specialisation in Voice Performance or Music Education.
Proven experience teaching voice demonstrating a track record of successful student outcomes.
Strong background in directing and leading choirs and vocal ensembles, with excellent organisational and communication skills.

Desirable Skills

Knowledge of Australian repertoire
Knowledge of AMEB syllabus (set and manual list repertoire)
