A unique opportunity exists for a Vocational Trainer to join our team at Townsville Community Learning Centre. As a Vocational Trainer, you will deliver hands-on instruction to students as part of a vocational education certificate in hospitality and support students in developing broader employability skills, which will assist their transition to further training or employment.This role is offered on a part-time temporary basis until 13 December 2025, unless otherwise determined, days will be negotiated on appointment.About Townsville Community Learning CentreTCLC is a state special school catering for students from Prep to Year 12 who have a verified Intellectual Disability. At TCLC we pride ourselves on providing rich, engaging learning experiences for all of our students. Students from Prep to year 10 access the Australian Curriculum in all key learning areas. The school has a comprehensive Whole-School Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Framework (WSCARF). All students in P-10 have Individual Curriculum Plans aligned to the WSCARF. Students in years 11 and 12 have access to the Guidelines for Individual Learning (GIL), ASDAN courses and Certificate courses. All students graduate with a Queensland Certificate of Individual Achievement (QCIA).About The Special Education Training Alliance (SETA)The (SETA) is a central registered training organisation (RTO) based out of Western Suburbs Special School and services special schools across the state, Townsville Community Learning Centre are a part of SETA. Students studying SETA courses are able to gain nationally recognised (entry level) qualifications at a Certificate I level which assist students to gain work readiness skills designed to support students in post school pathway options in terms of employability and volunteering readiness. All courses offered have been written in a reasonably adjusted format specifically for students with a disability and further reasonable adjustments are provided as needed.About The RoleAs the Vocational Trainer you will:Plan and implement a program of instruction related to building students' skill sets required to complete competencies in specific Certificate I.Assist the Principal through stakeholder relationship building to develop, plan deliver authentic workplace learning opportunities, and offer career pathways for students.The Vocational Trainer will work in collaboration with the School VET Program Coordinator, however will be required to build and maintain strong and effective relationships with stakeholders of the program which include students, community and industry partners.The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality and compliant training that results in successful student outcomes. You will support students using a personalised learning approach, maintain records of student progress and contribute to the school's continuous improvement and strategic direction.ResponsibilitiesThe ideal candidate for this role will have demonstrated skills and experience in hospitality. Specific responsibilities of the role will include:Provide coaching, training and support to participants to achieve educational or employment outcomes;Ensure all participants are engaged in activities that focus on training, employment or personal development;Build relationships and network with employers, stakeholders, training providers and community links.The Ideal Candidate Would PossessQualifications and experience in hospitality.Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116) or equivalent.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to develop and maintain industry relationships.Commitment to student development.Interested?
