The city of Ararat is located between the Grampians and Pyrenees ranges, in the central highlands of Western Victoria, 200km from Melbourne, approximately 100kms west of Ballarat.

Ararat College has a current enrolment of just over 335 students, which will increase to over 370 in 2025.
Students are transported to school on six country buses, with a variety of primary schools feeding into the College.
The integration of students from small primary schools into a relatively large secondary is a challenge, which Ararat College believes it handles well.

Selection Criteria SIT20416 Certificate II in Kitchen Operations Demonstrated experience and ability to instruct and support students in their learning to maximise their growth and confidence.Demonstrated high-level oral and written communication skills when in contact with students, parents, and other staff.Demonstrated technical knowledge and current industry experience.Demonstrated capacity to work independently and show initiative.Demonstrated commitment to professional learning for both self and others and ability to work in and enhance a professional team.Role
The selected candidate will be required to deliver the following course in conjunction with Ararat College and Registered Training Organisation.
SIT Certificate II in Kitchen Operations: prepares students with a limited range of food preparation and cookery skills to prepare food and menu items, including units such as preparing appetisers and salads, preparing sauces, stocks and soups, preparing vegetable, fruit and farinaceous dishes, and preparing poultry dishes.
Responsibilities
The role of a classroom teacher may include but is not limited to:
Direct teaching of groups of students and individual students.Contributing to the development, implementation, and evaluation of a curriculum area or other curriculum program within the school.Undertaking other classroom teaching-related and organisational duties as determined by the School Principal.Participating in activities such as parent/teacher meetings, staff meetings, camps, and excursions.Undertaking other non-teaching supervisory duties.Who May Apply
Teachers currently registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching and qualified to teach and/or have demonstrated experience in the curriculum area(s) specified for the position.

To be eligible for employment, transfer or promotion in the principal or teacher class a person must have provisional or full registration from the Victorian Institute of Teaching.
In addition, from 3 August 2020, to be eligible for employment in the principal class or teacher class, a person who graduated from a Victorian Initial Teacher Education program after 1 July 2016, must demonstrate that they have passed the literacy and numeracy test for initial teacher education (LANTITE) requirements.
This condition is satisfied where the LANTITE requirement is part of the Victorian Initial Teacher Education program completed by the person.
