RoleThe primary focus of the classroom teacher is on the planning, preparation and teaching of programs to achieve specific student outcomes.
The classroom teacher engages in critical reflection and inquiry in order to improve knowledge and skills to effectively engage students and improve their learning.
All classroom teachers may be required to undertake other duties in addition to their rostered teaching duties provided the responsibility is appropriate to the salary range, qualifications, training and experience of the teacher.
ResponsibilitiesThe role of classroom teacher may include but is not limited to:
Direct teaching of groups of students and individual students;Contributing to the development, implementation and evaluation of a curriculum area or other curriculum program within the school;Undertaking other classroom teaching related and organisational duties as determined by the School Principal;Participating in activities such as parent/teacher meetings; staff meetings; camps and excursions;Undertaking other non-teaching supervisory duties.Who May ApplyTeachers currently registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching and qualified to teach and/or have demonstrated experience in the curriculum area(s) specified for the position.
ConditionsApplicants must have the ability to make use of their industry experience in the classroom to deliver quality Hospitality training to our students.
Our Year 1 VET classes are held during term time on Wednesday afternoons from 1.00 - 4.30 pm.
Class times may vary from time to time to help with the catering of school events.
The 0.2 time fraction would require the trainer to be on site for 7.6 hours each Wednesday, enabling the teacher to have planning, preparation and assessment time as well.
This is a 12 month contract position commencing Term 1, 2025.
Minimum RequirementsThe successful applicant will have:
Certificate IV in Training & Assessment (TAE40110/TAI40116)Certificate III in Hospitality (or equivalent)Secondary school teacher qualificationRelevant industry and/or educational experienceWillingness to develop their VET knowledge and skillsKnowledge of the content of VET in the VCE Hospitality curriculumPractical skills for training students in hospitality and cookery skillsAbility to work proactively and independently.Application ProcessApplicants are required to provide a statement addressing the key selection criteria along with their resume.
