Job Description:Position Title: Visiting Medical Officer - Addiction Medicine - DSAS
Employment Type: Fixed Term, Part Time up until 30/06/2026
Hours per week: On-call (Friday 5pm to Monday 8:30am or weekdays 5pm to 8:30am next day) and telephone advice (approx.
1 hour a week)

The VMO supports health professionals across NSW without access to a local AOD specialist, particularly in regional and rural areas.
Advice will be provided via telephone support services and should encompass:
Management of intoxication and withdrawalAdvice on methadone and opiate treatmentsInteractions between medications and illicit drugsManagement of other clinical concerns arising from AOD related issuesReferral and treatment options around NSWThe VMO will receive an on-call allowance for the rostered shift plus an allowance rate per call handled.
The VMO is also expected to participate in clinical review meetings in order to contribute to the maintenance of a high quality telephone advisory service.

Selection Criteria: Personal integrity and demonstrated commitment to the Philosophy, Mission and Values of Mary Aikenhead Ministries and St Vincent's Health Australia.Possess, or be eligible to possess, specialist registration with the Medical Board of Australia.Possess Fellowship of the Australasian Chapter of Addiction Medicine, Royal Australasian College of Physicians or other relevant Australasian Specialist College.Demonstrated knowledge, skills and high standards of clinical practice in Addiction Medicine commensurate to experience which is appropriate to the requirements of the position.Demonstrated leadership skills that support and foster innovation to create a learning culture, with proven ability to improve the quality of services and patient care outcomes.Demonstrated ability to provide high quality compassionate medical care as evidenced by recent practice experience in working congenially and collaboratively as both a leader and member of a multidisciplinary team, and as a provider of services that engender high levels of patient satisfaction and experience.Demonstrated ongoing contribution to the development, dissemination, and translation of new knowledge and practices commensurate with work in an academic teaching hospital environment.Applications close on 26/01/25 Contact Details:Dr Nadine Ezard - ******
