About The RoleWe are seeking a qualified and experienced Vessel Master to helm our supply vessel Poseidon (vessel length 19.950m), ensuring the safe and efficient transfer of goods and fuel between key locations including Broome, Derby and Talbot Bay during our upcoming season.
This is a hands-on position based in Broome, being offered on a seasonal basis from February to November 2025.
Key responsibilities will include:
Comply with all aspects of the vessels safety management system and supporting documents.Ensure that the vessel and any vessels they tow are fit for purpose before undertaking any voyage and equipped with firefighting, safety and lifesaving equipment consistent with regulatory requirements.Oversee loading and unloading operations, ensuring all cargo is secured and handled appropriately.Ensure crew members receive sufficient training in key onboard operations and emergency procedures to establish, maintain and verify competence and capacity of the crew member to safely carry out assigned duties.Maintain vessel records to the appropriate standard (logs, maintenance etc using the maintenance management system Helm).Play an active part in the refuelling of vessels following associated processes and procedures.Encourage and foster a working environment that supports a positive safety culture and the reporting of incidents or injuries.Ensure compliance with AMSA, DBCA and other regulatory bodies is maintained.About YouWe are looking for an individual who has a 'can-do' attitude with a proactive and solutions focused approach to achieve business outcomes.
You will have a passion for the maritime industry along with demonstrated experience operating vessels of this size and throughout the Kimberley region.
