About the opportunity There is currently one (1) permanent – full time position available for immediate filling.
We are seeking a Research Scientist at Specified Calling Level 1 or 2, to join our Aquatic Science and Assessment branch, within the Ecological Monitoring and Assessment team. In this role, you will contribute to research that supports ecosystem-based fisheries management (EBFM). Under guidance from senior staff, you will be responsible for data collection and analysis, report preparation and science-based policy advice. You will also engage with key stakeholders to communicate scientific findings effectively.
Ideal candidates will have a strong foundation in fisheries and marine science, aquatic resource assessment and marine spatial science, particularly as they relate to sustainable fisheries management. Candidates should have experience in publishing scientific reports and peer-reviewed papers, excellent written and verbal communication skills, advanced data and analytical abilities, and the capacity to manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment.

Employment Conditions and Additional Information DPIRD is an Emergency Management Agency and all employees may be required to work or travel during, or outside of, normal business hours to assist with incidents and emergencies.
