About the role We are looking for a passionate team member to join our team as the Customer Support & Junior Developer and split their time between providing exceptional customer support and contributing to the development of Lightning Payroll's software products.
Reporting to the Lightning Payroll Team Lead, you will use available tools and follow company policy and procedure to perform troubleshooting support and develop our product to determine the best solution for our users.
This is a permanent full-time position done remotely. This role is perfect for a motivated individual wishing to further their skills & experience in a customer-focused IT role.
Key Responsibilities Customer Support (approx. 50%): Answering technical support calls relating to our payroll software products. Assisting customers in navigating our website and software. Ensuring customers are competent and confident in using the software by providing guidance and troubleshooting. Providing a calm, friendly, and reassuring experience while solving users' payroll and software issues in a timely manner. Answering questions and providing sales advice depending on which of our products and services would best suit each customer. Reporting customer feedback and software features/bugs to the development team. Assisting with administrative, sales, and marketing tasks as needed, including creating video tutorials and support documentation. Junior Development (approx. 50%): Working on software development tasks as assigned by the Team Lead. Assisting in debugging and testing software to improve functionality and performance. Supporting the development team with small coding tasks, bug fixes, and feature development. Gaining familiarity with the software architecture and actively learning new technologies and tools to enhance development skills. A Bit About You We require a highly motivated IT support professional with outstanding communication and customer service skills. Other required skills and experience include:
Previous experience in a similar customer-facing role is highly regarded. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Intermediate computer and internet skills. Ability to remain patient, empathetic, and solution-focused under pressure. A basic understanding of software development principles (e.g. object-oriented programming, debugging, etc.). A willingness to learn and grow in a fast-paced environment. Ability to work collaboratively within a team and independently on tasks as needed.
