An entry requirement for employment with the Australian Defence Force (ADF) is that you must be an Australian citizen. Your role As a Vehicle Mechanic, you'll be responsible for keeping the Army on the move, inspecting, servicing, repairing and maintaining a wide variety of military vehicles. Wherever the Army goes, you go. Your duties include, but aren't limited to: Diagnosing, maintaining and repairing the Army's fleet of general service vehicles, protected mobility vehicles and earth moving vehicles Working with specialist teams on advanced armoured vehicle hydraulics, fuel and electrical systems or vehicle power plants Performing safety and technical inspections on vehicles and specialist equipment General soldiering duties, such as manning defensive positions, patrolling, traffic control, camouflaging of vehicles and field equipment, and navigation Following your training, not only will you have an Army trade proficiency, but you'll also gain excellent skills for your long-term employment prospects. Your trade training is fully accredited with exportability of that trade qualification into the civilian community, providing a broader scope for your future employment. Upon commencing training, your starting salary will be approximately $54,815 per annum plus 16.4% superannuation and your pay will increase as you progress through training. On completion of your initial military training and initial employment training, you could earn $77,451 per annum plus generous super and can enjoy the benefits of a stable and rewarding career. Location: Following your initial military training, you could be posted to one of the many Army bases and units across Australia. The majority of these positions are located in North QLD, QLD and the NT.
