Job Description - Vehicle Building Trades Person - New Build (261889) Due to continued growth, UGL's Manufacturing & Maintenance business is seeking skilled Vehicle Builders to join our Locomotive New Build team in Broadmeadow, Newcastle. This is a full-time permanent opportunity on a 9-day fortnight schedule, offering day shifts from Monday to Thursday (5:30am – 2:30pm), with every second Friday off, and working 5:30am – 1:30pm on the Fridays you do work.
The Role: In this role, you'll report directly to the Service Delivery Manager, contributing to locomotive new builds by performing detailed internal and external fit-outs on Locomotives, and handling general workshop duties. Responsibilities include:
Cutting and installing flooringInstalling air ducting and acoustic insulationFitting roof and wall liningsHandling internal and external GRP panelsInstalling windows and assembling doorsSealing and backfilling with Sikaflex productsAbout You: We're looking for candidates with the following qualifications and attributes:
Australian trade certificate with a Certificate of Proficiency in Carpentry Joinery, Shop Fitting, Shipwright, or Vehicle BuildingStrong written and verbal communication skillsReliable and punctual with a commitment to safetyGeneral rail or locomotive experience (desirable but not essential)Ability to interpret schematics and production drawingsCapable of working autonomously and in a teamCustomer-focused with a drive for quality workWhy UGL?
