(Weekend work and overtime at applicable higher rate) About the Role Reporting to the Workshop Manager, the primary role of the Vehicle Body Repair/Fabricator is to support the Bodyshop with repairs following accidents and impacts on our bus fleet, including maintenance and repairs, fabrication of sections and components (from sheet metal, pipes, wood, fibreglass and other materials) spray painting of vehicles and the servicing of workshop equipment.
You will work on a modern, well-maintained fleet including Diesel, Gas and Hybrid vehicles (electric coming in early 2023) from Scania, MAN, Mercedes, Volvo, and Iveco, to enable our drivers to provide a safe and efficient service to our community.
What we need from you to succeed Relevant trade certificate.
Organised, with an ability to prioritise work tasks.
Demonstrated experience in fabrication, body repairs of collision damage and general repairs - Cutting, shaping, and grinding sheet metal, fibreglass and plastic to create panels.
(Trucks, coaches, buses, caravans beneficial) and take pride in their workmanship.
Have fitting and assembly experience installing components and trim such as door handles, locks, hinges, floor coverings and linings.
Including working with various fabrics and materials to size and stitch together to form coverings for vehicle interiors.
Interpreting drawings, specifications, and engineering plans.
Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety in the workplace.
Excellent communication skills.
Proven ability to work independently.
Great customer service skills for internal stakeholders.
