The VOL plays a critical role in not only understanding but also driving the delivery of business priorities and customer issues, translating these effectively into innovative developments or initiatives.The VOL will oversee the full lifecycle of product improvements, encompassing design, development, delivery, and final implementation at the customer-facing front.

VOL's are responsible for guiding products through their lifecycle, from conception to launch and beyond.Specifically, the VOL:Establishes the long-term vision and objectives for the product.Oversees multiple initiatives, communicating clearly with stakeholders, assisting teams with overcoming blockers, managing risk, and driving improvements.Exercises flexibility in decision-making to adapt to changing priorities, with the goal of facilitating efficient delivery of priorities.Sets product features or iterations.Provides direction to cross-functional teams involved in product development.Negotiates with vendors, stakeholders, and others as necessary to advance the product's interests.Makes decisions on when and how to iterate on the product based on analytics and feedback.A VOL is essentially the link between the business and the development team.
They must provide leadership in the strategic, tactical, and operational aspects of product management.
They also drive the process, balance various interests, address challenges, and make necessary adjustments to keep the product on track with quality and time constraints.
