About the Role We have a range of projects on offer – meaningful, real-world projects that will benefit community safety, and kick-start your experience and networks to get you job ready!
Our target qualification areas for 2024-25 include:
Environmental Science, Land Management (final year of undergraduate or postgraduate studies);GIS and Remote Sensing (final year of undergraduate or postgraduate studies);Science Communication, Communication and Media Studies (Videography) (undergraduate or postgraduate).You will be placed with a team and assigned a dedicated supervisor for the duration of your placement.
Under the direction of your supervisor, you will undertake tasks and activities to complete your project and contribute to the broader work of your team.
For example, for environmental science placements, you may undertake field work, on-ground observations and analysis tasks, remote sensing analysis, and support data governance and maintenance.
For our science communications placements, you may be applying new tools and processes to scan large amounts of scientific information and distil key messages that can be shared with community members.
For our communications placements, you may be assisting with multimedia creation, curation and organisation to support training for our stakeholders in bushfire management.
Projects may be based at the Emergency Services Complex in Cockburn Central, or at the Bushfire Centre of Excellence in Nambeelup.
Employment Conditions and Additional Information Please note that some projects may require the student to hold a current Western Australian driver licence.
