About PROV Public Record Office Victoria (PROV) is the archives of the State Government of Victoria. We hold around 100kms of records dating from the 1830s right up to the present day. Our impressive collection includes records of immigration and shipping, criminal trials and prisons, premiers and governors, royal commissions, boards of inquiry, wills and probates, and much more. These records hold stories of the key events and decisions that have shaped the history of the State of Victoria.
Established under the Public Records Act 1973, our objectives are to:
issue and advise on standards regulating the creation, maintenance, and security of public records preserve public records of permanent value ensure that the archives are accessible About the role The Digital Records Technical Specialist is a new role created to fully utilise our brand new archival systems, advance our digital records transfer and preservation programs, and develop creative and innovative solutions. The role works in a small collaborative team responsible for the transfer of permanent digital records to PROV from Victorian public sector agencies. The role also researches, develops, and maintains software solutions compliant with our Victorian Electronic Records Strategy (VERS) requirements to expedite digital records transfer projects and monitors our digital archive infrastructure, software, and processes.
This is an external-facing role working with a diverse range of clients. Reporting to the Manager Digital Transfer, the role works closely with the VERS Senior Technical Specialist and the Technology Services team.
