Volunteer Street Team Member The Volunteer Street Team Member works alongside the Street Team Coordinator and other Street Team volunteers to engage with vulnerable and intoxicated people to ensure their safety and wellbeing. Teams are made up of a minimum of 3 members who walk together in specific designated areas/zones where people tend to gather, such as nightclubs and bars. Their primary purpose is to provide "eyes and ears" for Tasmania Police and to provide brief intervention support around substance use or basic first aid where the Patron has been injured. Key Responsibilities of Volunteer Role: Use your training and experience to connect in an appropriate way with people experiencing vulnerability due to alcohol or substance use. In consultation with the community member, identify relevant support options and assist with referrals or to ensure they return home safely. Record notes on interaction, assistance, and referrals offered to the community member in TSA's system/s. Assist with setting up and packing up of any resources or equipment used during the shift.

Qualifications and Skills (Desired/Required) Experience in working with people experiencing vulnerabilities (e.g., addictions) is desirable/required.

Background Check Requirements Background checks play an important part in our commitment to being a safe organisation. Where an applicant has disclosable history, the selection process includes a fair assessment and a risk management approach. Collection of personal information is handled per our privacy and confidentiality policies. Below is what is required for this role: As this role works closely with people experiencing vulnerability and sensitive information, a current Working with Vulnerable People Card TAS is required.

Time Required & Commitment As agreed with manager, on either Friday or Saturday evenings between 10.00pm-3.00am.

Development Opportunities with this Role This role will give volunteers an opportunity to develop skills and build experience in working with people experiencing vulnerabilities. Training workshops in First Aid and Mental Health First Aid could be available. Induction Training for Street Teams is provided online.
