Position Overview Corps General Support Assistants are 'all-rounders', building upon and applying their broad knowledge of the corps - the activities, the people of the corps, day-to-day operations, spiritual life and fellowship.
Whilst Corps General Support Assistants do not work directly with community members, they are vital in assisting with the practical tasks needed to achieve the corps' goals, and also in supporting the community's needs and growing faith pathways.
As Corps General Support Assistants gain more experience, they are encouraged to explore and apply their particular interests to develop into a more specialised role if they wish.
Salvation Army Corps Officers rely on a dedicated team to support in the smooth running of the corps, across many areas and activities, some of which are regular weekly activities, and some are at special times of the year.
Please note that in addition to the below tasks outlined, we are looking for someone that is comfortable moving around furniture and heavy lifting may be required at times.Key Responsibilities: Teamwork: Regularly attend meetings with Corps Officers to determine activities.Support corps spiritual life: Provide practical assistance to support the Corps Officers' evangelical outreach.Support worship: Assist with preparing room for worship, setting out seating and worship materials, assisting audio-visual team with set up.Support corps programs: Provide practical assistance with regular and special events as required by the Corps Officers.Qualifications and Skills (Desired/Required): Experience in events and community programs desired but not essential as training will be provided.Desire to work as part of a team and learn along the way.Shows initiative with limited supervision.Open to the opportunity to work on more complex activities.Background Check Requirements: Background checks play an important part in our commitment to being a safe organisation.

Depending on volunteers' interests, there are a number of additional training and development opportunities available.
