UX/UI Designer - Researcher Local Peoples is seeking enthusiastic and talented UX/UI Designer - Researcher in the ACT, NSW, QLD, SA, VIC, WA to join our team as embedded members with our prestigious Government client. Our government client requires an experienced User Interface and User Experience Designer to work as part of an agile design team on a large complex project in employment-related services.
Supported by one of the best communities of service designers, researchers, interaction, and visual designers in the Federal Government, you will be leading the UX/UI design and user research activities required to clarify projects' scope, identify user needs, define user journeys, create UI mock-ups and Figma prototypes using our design system, test design assumptions with external users, and support business analysts, developers, and testers throughout the solution delivery.
Responsibilities: Lead and work collaboratively on user research activities and developing design solutions. Ability to understand the Departments Policy environment and apply to project outcomes, digital solutions, and the desired user experience. Provide expert and timely advice to ensure high design standards and provide design guidance and solutions throughout the project lifecycle to support the Departments user needs. Ensure solutions comply with WCAG 2.1 accessibility guidelines and Digital Transformation Agency recommendations. Develop and maintain effective relationships both internally and externally. Manage time and workload appropriately, ensuring that materials produced are consistent with the Department's visual style guide, branding, and digital strategy. Essential Criteria: Significant experience leading the UX/UI design and research work of complex and/or transactional online services. For example, you can speak about large-scale projects and tangible outcomes you are proud to have delivered in the past. Proven experience working in a multi-disciplinary team, building rapport with, and educating stakeholders about the UX design methodology and its value. Outstanding oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to collaborate and influence a wide range of audiences by clearly articulating your vision and design recommendations through a thoughtful rationale. Desirable Criteria: Understanding the business context of the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations and/or Department of Education and other Australian Government departments and agencies related to employment and education. Experience using a robust (e.g. multi-brands) design system in Figma. Experience designing UIs to meet web accessibility standards. Residency and Clearance Must have Baseline Clearance or be able to obtain one. Australian Citizen. This role is open to ACT, NSW, QLD, SA, VIC, WA. Who are Local Peoples?
