About the opportunity:
Position: Senior Medical Officer – Public Health
Vacancy: Fixed Term Temporary full-time, 31/01/2025 up to 31/01/2026.
Location: Townsville Public Health Unit, Corporate Service Group, Townsville
Provide specialist Public Health medical support to the health services and communities in Townsville and tropical north Queensland, through disease monitoring, prevention and control, education and research.
Work with multidisciplinary teams to protect the health of the population.

Requirements:
Registered with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner and as a Medical Specialist in Public Health Medicine (or another equivalent and relevant specialty) or registrable as a specialist in Public Health Medicine within 12 months of appointment.
Maintain currency in public health medicine including fulfilling any specialist College and national registration authority (AHPRA) requirements such as Continuing Professional Development.
Participate as required in rostered and/or on-call service, including day, evening and night shifts, weekends and public holidays.
Ability to operate a C class motor vehicle and an appropriate licence endorsement to operate this type of vehicle.
Proof of this endorsement must be produced prior to commencement of duties.
This is a Vaccine Preventable Disease (VPD) risk role.
Hepatitis A/B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Tuberculosis.
Probation period may apply.
