Townsville Hospital and Health Service is the public healthcare provider for the government areas of Townsville, Burdekin, Charters Towers, Flinders, Richmond, Hinchinbrook, and Palm Island; operating 21 facilities from primary care in regional locations to highly specialised care at the main hospital.

Townsville Hospital and Health Service comprises Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Workers who are based within specific Townsville HHS mental health programs and teams and who also have the capacity to move across other programs and teams as required.

An opportunity has arisen for an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Worker - Advanced (Identified) to join their team on a permanent full-time basis.

Position: Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Worker - Advanced (Identified)
Under s25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991, there is a genuine occupational requirement for the incumbent to be Indigenous to the Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Community.
Vacancy: Permanent full-time
Location: Townsville
As a member of the Cultural Assessment & Liaison Team (CALT), Rural program Area you will participate in and contribute to the delivery of a culturally sensitive and appropriate mental health care service to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients who access the Palm Island Community Health Team.

All employees of the Mental Health Service Group may be required to work in other areas of the Service.

Requirements:
Appointment, and future increment progression, between pay points HWF3.1 to HWF3.5 requires:Certificate IV in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care, or Certificate IV in Mental Health, or Certificate IV in Alcohol and Other Drugs, or Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work.
Appointment, and future increment progression, between pay points HWF3.2 to HWF3.7, or HWF3.8 (limited to employees who meet the requirements of HED 04/23) requires:Diploma of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care, or Diploma of Mental Health, or Diploma of Alcohol and Other Drugs.
Under s25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991, there is a genuine occupational requirement for the incumbent to be Indigenous to the Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Community.
Possession of class C drivers' licence.
This is a Vaccine Preventable Disease (VPD) risk role.
Probation period may apply.
Pre-employment checks will be conducted criminal history clearance and Aged Care Pre-Employment Screening.
