The Opportunity As the eResearch Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the strategy, management, and enhancement of large and complex Research Technology platforms at UTS.
This role involves developing and executing technology roadmaps, ensuring alignment with the university's strategic goals, and driving continuous improvement in platform services.
This role is ideal for experienced professionals with backgrounds such as technical support manager, infrastructure manager, or service delivery manager, as well as similar leadership roles.
We're looking for individuals who are passionate about leveraging cutting-edge technology, have a proven track record of leading high-performing teams, managing complex projects, and building strong relationships with diverse stakeholders.
You will lead a cross-functional team of engineers, analysts, and administrators, working closely with external vendors and internal stakeholders to ensure that eResearch platforms are secure, scalable, and high-performing.
A Day in the Life of a Platform Manager - eResearch at UTS Lead the management and optimisation of large, complex Research Technology platforms to ensure reliability, security, and performance.Develop and execute eResearch platform strategies and roadmaps that align with the university's business and digital goals.Lead and coordinate the streams of activities within eResearch operations, i.e., technology advisory, service provisioning, support, engagement and awareness, and training.Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to ensure seamless platform integration and adherence to ITU standards.Provide leadership and mentorship to your team, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.Drive continuous improvement, identifying opportunities to enhance platform capabilities and implement new features.Ensure compliance with security, regulatory, and industry standards through regular audits and assessments.Manage relationships with external vendors, negotiating contracts and exploring innovative solutions to meet platform needs.What You'll Need to Succeed Extensive experience in managing complex IT platforms, with a deep understanding of eResearch technologies and lifecycle management.Ability to develop and execute platform strategies that align with the university's broader objectives.Extensive experience in leading cross-functional teams, managing performance, and mentoring team members to achieve strategic goals.Exceptional organisational skills and the ability to adapt to changing priorities and challenges, while maintaining resilience and composure under pressure.Excellent skills and resourcefulness in identifying and resolving complex technical and operational issues while ensuring platform reliability and team performance.Proficiency in agile practices, with experience collaborating effectively within agile teams using Scrum or Kanban.Expertise in implementing security measures, mitigating risks, and ensuring compliance with data protection and cybersecurity standards.Experience in building and maintaining relationships with external vendors, negotiating contracts, and managing platform enhancements.Strong communication skills to work with internal and external stakeholders and align platform services with the university's goals.Ability to manage project budgets, conduct financial estimation, and ensure cost-effective platform operations.Remuneration & Benefits A competitive and comprehensive remuneration package will be offered.
This role attracts 17% superannuation in addition to the base salary.
