The OpportunityAs the Utilities Technician, you will be responsible for ensuring that all Utilities and Services achieve daily facility requirements, ensuring uninterrupted operation of Power (HV & solar), Refrigeration, Heating (Biomass HW Boiler), Organic Rankine Cycle Generator, Wastewater Treatment Plant, Compressed Air, and Building Services. You will take ownership for the safe, efficient, and reliable upkeep of site utilities by managing and reducing site utility expenses, energy supply risks, along with supporting the business through strategic technology enhancements and new product implementation.
What you'll be doingSupport in the routine preventive maintenance as per schedule of all utilities and services equipment.Ensure uninterrupted operation of all utilities to site including boiler, refrigeration, air conditioning, air compressors, and power supplies.Investigate and reduce energy, water consumption, and waste generation through the facility.Manage building maintenance and budgeted repairs.Identify opportunities to improve safety, quality, sustainability, and ensure cost-effectiveness relative to current benchmarks or business cases.What's in your toolkit? Experience in engineering or mechanical positions in an FMCG Manufacturing environment.Relevant qualifications in Mechanical, Electrical or Chemical Engineering or related discipline (bachelor's degree, Diploma or Trade Cert 3).Experience with refrigeration, water treatment, and boiler operating systems and maintenance would be an advantage.Ability to work unsupervised or within a cross-functional team.Knowledge of business operations including Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Safe Operating Procedures (SOPs). Good to have but not critical.Knowledge of ISO and HACCP principles. Good to have but not critical.SAP experience – CMMS. Good to have but not critical.Experience in continuous improvement using Lean or Six Sigma.
