About our team Immigration | Service Design & Delivery Programs | Service Delivery Design | Research and Design Services The Research and Design Services Section enables the development of simple, clearer, usable services by applying a human-centred design approach and new ways of working.
The section engages with different programs across the Immigration Group, working with them throughout the journey.
We provide research and design capability to design evidence-based solutions for internal and external services.
Our team guides the future design of services by understanding user needs, identifying opportunities, and designing solutions that solve the right problem.
Please visit our website for more information about the Department of Home Affairs or Australian Border Force Our ideal candidate Experience and qualifications in user research, service design, user-centred design is highly desirable but not essential Demonstrated aptitude for identifying problems and finding innovative ways to develop solutions to deliver better results will suit these roles, as will effective communicators with strong stakeholder engagement skills Ability to develop and apply knowledge of human and/or user-centred design principles Ability to apply user research and service design methodologies to plan, organise and deliver specific goals and objectives of projects Collaboration skills and an ability to use developed interpersonal skills to facilitate and promote effective interactions with clients, colleagues, and stakeholders.
Duties and responsibilities Conduct qualitative and quantitative research to assess user characteristics, requirements, needs, goals, opportunities, and pain points in relation to departmental tools, products, and services Organise and coordinate user research workshops and discovery sessions, sending invitations to stakeholders and monitoring replies Contribute to a collaborative process to design or re-design services, including business processes Work as a team player to support engagement activities with stakeholders across the Department to test ideas and validate new and improved service delivery processes and operating models Build and sustain positive relationships with team members and stakeholders, this includes providing and receiving feedback while maintaining positive and productive working relationships.

Eligibility To be eligible for the position you must be an Australian Citizen.
The successful candidate will be required to obtain and maintain a Baseline Vetting (AGSVA) security clearance, and:   ABF Workers will also be required to obtain and maintain an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC).
Home Affairs Workers will also be required to obtain and maintain an Onboarding Check.
In certain circumstances, an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC) may be required in addition to, or in lieu of, an Onboarding Check, which will be determined by the delegate as necessary.
