About the role We are seeking a dedicated Urban Planner to develop and deliver both strategic and statutory planning across Adelaide and Parafield Airport, effectively implementing our property vision with best practice planning principles. This includes the development and implementation of Airport Master Plans, precinct plans, and facilitating statutory planning approvals for property and construction projects, ensuring alignment with relevant regulations and the airports' objectives.
Key responsibilities Lead the Strategic Planning through the coordination and delivery of development-ready precinct plans, incorporating wellness, sustainability, and amenities. This includes:Precinct visionsMaster planningSubdivision plansDesign guidelinesOversee statutory planning across the airport by assessing Development Applications and Major Development Plans, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and alignment with the development-ready strategy.Provide expert advice on land use, development capability, due diligence assessments, master plans, and the approval process.Lead a multidisciplinary consulting team to deliver precinct plans aligned with the development-ready strategy.Offer expert land use and planning advice and oversee all property developments.Establish effective internal and external working relationships and maintain high standards of customer service.Identify emerging issues within the context of the position and address them proactively.The person The Urban Planner is a passionate professional who thrives in a busy and supportive work environment. As part of the close-knit Airport Planning team within the broader Planning and Infrastructure business unit, you are a positive and motivated team player with demonstrated flexibility in handling a wide variety of tasks.
You proactively nurture relationships with both internal and external stakeholders and possess excellent attention to detail, a logical and positive approach to solving problems, and exhibit high verbal and written communication competency.
Skills and experience You will have in-depth knowledge and understanding of areas such as land use planning, urban design, regulatory approvals, and smart cities. Experience in town planning, development approvals, and compliance is essential, with preferable experience in precinct or master planning for industrial or office complexes. A degree in Town Planning, Architecture, or Engineering, along with at least 7 years of relevant experience, is required.
The Urban Planner is skilled in assessing development applications and communicating clear, enforceable, and timely conditions. Experience with developers or private industry, either as a local assessing officer or representing the developer's interests, is essential. Additionally, desirable qualifications include airport master planning and development experience, project planning and management skills, developing commercial acumen, and proficiency with GIS applications.
