Position Overview
We are seeking a Consultant with expertise in cultural safety strategies to support and evaluate student work in the context of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander communities. This role involves providing guidance, feedback, and assessments for students undertaking CHCDIV002 - Promote Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Cultural Safety .
Key Responsibilities Review and assess cultural safety strategies developed by students, ensuring alignment with best practices and cultural protocols. Provide constructive feedback on cultural safety plans created by students, fostering growth and understanding. Attend monthly consultation sessions with students (held on the 3rd Tuesday of each month at 7:00 pm AEST) to evaluate their strategies. Sessions run for 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on student participation. Complete and sign off on evaluation forms provided by students, maintaining clear and respectful communication with all stakeholders. Ensure all communication is culturally appropriate, respectful of cultural differences, and consistent with the principles of cultural safety. Key Requirements Must be an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person. Extensive knowledge and experience in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander cultural safety practices. Strong ability to evaluate and provide detailed, constructive feedback on cultural safety strategies. Excellent communication skills, with a focus on cultural sensitivity and respect for diversity. Remuneration $250 per session (1.5 to 2 hours). Sessions are currently scheduled monthly on the 3rd Tuesday, ensuring consistent engagement with students across all course cohorts.
