Seeking a passionate Research Assistant to support the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Work Stream of the Australian Eating Disorders Research & Translation Centre, led by InsideOut Institute. Located at the Charles Perkins Centre within the InsideOut Institute (Remote working for rural or interstate candidates may be considered). Part-time (0.6 FTE), commencing in January 2025 and ending on 12 September 2025. Base salary of $86,511 + 17% superannuation. About the opportunity This position has been designated for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people only under the provisions of section 126 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 (NSW). Your recruiter will be in touch to advise you on how to confirm Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander status. The InsideOut Institute is seeking a Research Assistant to join their current team. In this role, the Research Assistant will support the research protocol development and assist with research activities, including literature searches, scoping activities, data analysis, and collaboration with researchers and stakeholders for documentation flow. They work under general supervision, prioritise tasks to meet deadlines, resolve routine issues, and assist or escalate more complex ones.
In this role, you will play a crucial role within the team to support the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Work Stream of the national Centre. You will collaborate with the Centre Admin and Workstream Lead, and conduct activities such as research, reporting, and coordinating activities, including conducting interviews with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community members, showcasing a high level of empathy and connection. You will work with other members of the research team, Centre Admin and with advice from the workstream lead and First Nations Advisory; you will be well-supported in your role.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
Contribute to research protocol design and execution, and assist with data collection and analysis, ensuring quality and accuracy.
Coordinate and contribute to the development of grant applications, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and policies.
Provide research guidance and maintain thorough documentation for publications and records.
Collaborate with researchers, partners, and stakeholders, facilitating communication and addressing concerns.
Support report production, data verification, and compliance initiatives to uphold standards.
Coordinate administrative tasks such as purchasing, payment processing, and promoting health and safety practices.
Complete any other ad-hoc tasks, activities, or objectives as requested by your direct line manager.

Hold a bachelor's degree in public health or behavioural science, or equivalent level of training and experience.
Experience with interviewing participants within a research environment and using Indigenous methodologies.
Proficiency in data analysis and research data, research software, and computer literacy.
Excellent organisational and time management skills, with strong attention to detail.
Effective communication and customer service abilities.
Skilled in research administration, grant coordination, and managing data within research and higher education environments.
