About the Team The UTS Research Office is a central key unit within the portfolio of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) and provides support for and enables research activities across UTS in partnership with the faculty research offices and other support and enablement units. Within the Research Office, the Research Grants Team (led by the Deputy Director), is responsible for funding identification, proposal development, review, and submission through to establishment and post-award support. This includes the coordination, planning and post-award management for major grant rounds such as ARC/ NHMRC, and also other domestic (Australian) and international as well as internal grants. The Research Grants Team works closely with other teams in the Research Office to support the research funding environment.
About the Role The Research Grants team aims to identify, develop, and support new grant funding opportunities to build on the scale, quality and reach of UTS's research activities and deliver impact through the translation of outcomes into practical use. This role sits within the post-award function and is responsible for the establishment and management of awarded Category 1 (ARC and NHMRC) grants.
If successful in applying for this role, you will be responsible for: Delivering post-award support of ARC and NHMRC grant scheme compliance, variations, reporting, and project closure while managing timelines and expectations with researchers. Ensuring compliance with UTS and external guidelines, policies, and systems for major grant schemes, including certifications, transfers, and reporting requirements. Monitoring post-award compliance, providing advice and ad-hoc training or guidance on grant-related matters. Contributing to developing and improving office processes for grant management and participate in continuous improvement initiatives. Coordinating award acceptance, and handling correspondence with funding bodies and researchers while staying updated on research management guidelines and policies. Additional responsibilities at HEW 7 are: Lead post-award management processes and compliance. Develop and deliver workshops and training on grant schemes and research systems, coordinate ARC financial reporting, and manage non-major grant rounds, potentially overseeing a small team. With examples, please outline in a separate document, how you meet the following key selection criteria: HEW 6: Excellent comprehension, oral and written communication skills, with a high level of accuracy, literacy, numeracy, and attention to detail. Experience managing and working with a complex and varied workload, that is deadline driven. Willingness and capability to deliver quality service within the context of continuous improvement and culture change. Excellent computer literacy skills with experience working with various systems and applications. HEW 7: Understanding of grant agreement management processes in a university environment. Capability in running training sessions on research management systems and processes. High level demonstrated problem solving and analytical skills, with the ability to identify potential problems and opportunities to resolve them effectively, and independently where appropriate. Remuneration & Benefits Base Salary Range: $94,476 to $115,327 pa (HEW 6/7) This role attracts 17% superannuation (pension) pro-rata in addition to the base salary. This position is part time (0.6 FTE, 3 days in a week) and appointment will be made on a continuing basis .
