Job Description Description The Facilities Student Worker will assist the Facilities Management team, particularly the Director of Building Maintenance, with various tasks related to the maintenance and operation of university facilities. This role is perfect for students eager to learn about facility operations and project management in a higher education setting.
ResponsibilitiesDaily Tasks: Support routine maintenance tasks, including assisting with AutoCAD drawings, generating Excel reports, and conducting routine walks and inspections with other team members or independently.Team Support: Assist the Paint Shop, Labor Shop, and Carpenter Shop Supervisors with various workplace tasks: making calls, sending emails, following up with vendors, getting quotes, etc.Work Orders: Enter work orders into the Facilities work entry software, FAMIS.Special Projects: Generate work order reports, assist in creating PowerPoint presentations, and provide clerical support as required.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.Good written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with staff, faculty, students, and visitors.Capable of performing physical tasks, including lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 30 lbs.Basic proficiency in PC skills, including Microsoft Office, Planner platform, PowerPoint, and a basic understanding of AutoCAD and Adobe products.Must possess a positive attitude, enthusiasm, reliability, and eagerness to learn.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.QualificationsMust be a current UHD student.Must be eligible for Federal College Work-Study.About University of Houston Downtown Celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2024, the University of Houston-Downtown (UHD) is the second-largest university in Houston and has served the educational needs of the nation's fourth-largest city since 1974.
