View our current career opportunities here.University Human Research Ethics Committee - LawyerJob no: 500437Work type: Part timeLocation: Statewide (all locations in Tasmania), Sydney, MelbourneCategories: Legal & ComplianceApplications are sought for membership to the University of Tasmania's Human Research Ethics Committee (HREC).A HREC Lawyer member is defined in the National Statement on Ethical Conduct in Human Research (2023) as a Category E member – a qualified lawyer, who may or may not be currently practicing and, where possible, is not engaged to advise the institution on research-related or any other matters.The incumbent/s will oversee the implementation of national guidelines, Tasmanian legislature, UTAS policies, procedures, guidelines, and to support an embedded culture of ethical conduct and research excellence.This is a significant role within our institution, contributing to the oversight and management of ethical considerations in research projects. Members can choose to receive a small stipend for each meeting attended.Members are required to attend 1-2 meetings per month of approximately 2 hours duration, plus allocate some time for preparation (reading and reviewing applications). Meetings are held via Zoom.Applications close Friday, 31 January 2025, 11.55pm.
