Job location

Forensicare provides specialist forensic mental health services across 12 of Victoria's 14 prisons with expansion underway to include Western Plains in the Barwon region.
Potentially based across multiple sites, our mobile forensic mental health service provides mental health treatment to prisoners experiencing mental ill-health, as well as an outpatient clinic service and initial reception assessments at Metropolitan Remand Centre.
This service also provides outpatient services to Barwon, Marngoneet and Kareenga prisons.
About the Role:

The Manager is an integral part of the Forensicare services provided at the Metropolitan Remand Centre and has responsibility and accountability for providing high level management including planning, development of human and financial resources and overseeing the delivery of multidisciplinary services.
The services provided at MRC consist of:
Initial mental health assessment to direct reception prisoners being received from police custody.
Post reception nursing follow up to men who require additional assessment, support, referral, or linkage and potential 'At Risk' assessment of the men in custody.
Consultant psychiatrist, registrar and nurse practitioner clinics to referred men at MRC.
Hope Inside – Post Crisis Suicidal support service.
This service aims to provide care for prisoners who need more intensive levels of service through the increase in availability of psychologists and works with mental health, health and program services within the Metropolitan Remand Centre (MRC) and provide
Satellite services at Kareenga and Marngoneet Correctional Centre as well as Hopkins Prison and Langi Kal Kal.
Duties:
Manage and lead the implementation and operation of Forensicare services at MRC and satellite locations, ( Kareenga and Marngoneet Correctional Centre, Hopkins and Lang Kal Kal) Including the Regional Clinical Coordination service.
Set service directions as part of the Forensicare prison management team.
Provide high level advice to the Operations Manager and Executive Director of Prison Operations on emerging issues in forensic mental health within prison services.
Contribute at a senior level to strategic planning and service development activities.
Lead organisational change and service improvement within MRC and satellite locations.
About You:
At least ten years' experience in providing a high level of services in mental health or forensic mental health settings (Preferable).
Listed as an endorsed supervisor (or eligible for being listed) with AHPRA.
Demonstrated commitment to incorporating consumer perspectives and the recovery approach into service delivery.
Proven ability to effectively lead a multi-disciplinary team.
Demonstrated ability to effectively and efficiently manage, develop and evaluate a complex mental health program.
Demonstrated ability to provide leadership, management and supervision of staff and students.
Proven ability to provide strategic advice in relation to service development and practice within a complex organisational setting.
What you need:
Approved qualification in nursing (Postgraduate Diploma in Mental Health Nursing or equivalent), social work or occupational therapy and current registration with AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioner Regulations Agency) where relevant.
Social Workers must be eligible for membership with the AASW (Australian Association of Social Workers).
Social work or Occupational therapy: Minimum of 10 years experience (preferable).
Psychology: Masters or doctoral level qualifications in clinical psychology or doctoral level qualifications in forensic psychology.
Minimum of 10 years experience (preferable).
Nursing: Minimum of 5 years of post qualification nursing experience, preferably recent experience in community mental health setting or a demonstration of significant and extensive experience working within a secondary/tertiary mental health service.
Registered as a Psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
Masters or Doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology from an APS accredited course or equivalent, OR Doctorate degree in Forensic Psychology from an APS accredited course or equivalent.
Endorsement or eligibility for endorsement, by AHPRA in the area of clinical psychology and/or forensic psychology.
