Offer Description Salary: (Level A) $98,574 - $105,611 or (Level B) $111,031 – $131,335 per annum plus an employer contribution of 17% superannuation applies.

Contract Duration: A full-time, fixed term position available for 24 months.

About the Project:
Join an innovative project funded through the HILT CRC, focusing on transforming the Australian heavy industry, particularly alumina production.
The Alumina Refineries' Next Generation Transition (AlumiNEXT) Project seeks to address immediate and long-term challenges in alumina refinery operations.
The project aims to de-risk high TRL technologies for retrofitting existing refineries, enabling significant emissions reductions, while also advancing the development of novel technologies for next-generation, net-zero refineries.

Key Areas of Focus:
Developing process models for refinery-specific evaluations of low-carbon heat supply to calciners and the Bayer process.
Designing novel steam integration strategies to recover and reuse steam or waste heat currently vented or lost.
Exploring technologies and pathways for emissions mitigation and promoting a circular economy.

To be successful, you will need:
Level A:
A PhD degree in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
Experience in modelling and conducting economic analyses of mineral processing and/or thermo-chemical processes.
Experience and demonstrated competence in process and system simulation, as well as in developing mathematical models for physical systems.
Strong technical writing skills for high-quality scientific journals, as well as verbal communication skills suited to academic settings.
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a team, interact effectively with colleagues and external collaborators.
Level B:
A PhD degree in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
Demonstrated experience in modelling and conducting economic analyses of mineral processing and/or thermo-chemical processes.
Demonstrated experience and competence in process and system simulation, as well as in developing mathematical models for physical systems.
