Since its redevelopment in 2020, it has become the region's leading public gallery, showcasing thought-provoking exhibitions by local, national, and international artists.
As the Collection and Registration Officer you will play a vital role in preserving and showcasing the UniSC Art Collection, which features over 1,200 culturally significant works of art and public art. As a member of the Art Gallery team, you'll manage the registration, display, research, inventory, and storage of artworks, including those on loan. With the support and guidance of the Manager, Art Gallery, you'll help bring art to life across UniSC's campuses, contributing to a vibrant cultural legacy.
Please note - The UniSC Art Gallery operates six days a week, with occasional evening and weekend work required. As a multi-campus university, UniSC may also require the successful incumbent to work at other campuses or sites. Additionally, possession of a current Queensland Driver's Licence is essential for this role.
You will: Support the management of the UniSC Art Collection in accordance with international museum standards and UniSC policies and procedures. Assist in providing access to the UniSC Art Collection through on-campus displays, institutional loans and online engagement initiatives. About you: You are a highly skilled professional with exceptional attention to detail and expertise in handling artworks to the highest professional and safety standards, including contemporary art with its unique display and conservation requirements. Your outstanding verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills enable you to engage confidently with diverse stakeholders, craft compelling artwork descriptions, and produce detailed collection reports and submissions. Highly organised and efficient, you excel at managing multiple projects, coordinating staff schedules, and maintaining precise records. With a proven ability to work independently and collaboratively toward strategic objectives, you bring strong administrative expertise, including proficiency in Microsoft 365.
You will possess: Knowledge of industry best practices and standards and the gallery/museum sector; Relevant qualifications in visual arts, curatorial or museum studies and/or relevant experience working in a gallery or museum environment; Demonstrated experience working in a gallery/museum with a sound knowledge of collection management, cataloguing standards, general registration and curatorial procedures; Demonstrated experience in facilitating and processing incoming/outgoing artwork loans; Experience working with eHive CMS and TechOne ECM is desirable.
