Unions Tasmania is gearing up to run a campaign to defend workers' wages and conditions. To help win for Tasmanian workers we are looking for a passionate person to support local unions and the peak body to implement the campaign in workplaces, the community, and target electorates. The role is for fixed term ending one month after the next Federal Election. The role is based in Hobart, but intrastate travel will be required. A demonstrated commitment to trade unions is essential. Experience working with unions would be highly regarded. ABOUT UNIONS TASMANIA Unions Tasmania is the peak body for trade unions in Tasmania. For over 140 years, we have been giving a voice to working Tasmanians and their families. We represent approximately 50,000 union members, across the private and public sector, in workplaces big and small. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES The primary role is to coordinate and support the rollout the target seat campaign. Work with unions in planning, mapping, and identifying strategic workplaces and tactics. Support Unions Tasmania in coordinating unions to effectively execute the campaign in the community and in workplaces. Deliver and support local campaign initiatives and actions – including blitzes, doorknocks, rallies, and other snap actions. Provide insight into the ongoing development and roll out of a successful campaign strategy. Contribute to the development of materials, work plans, and accountability systems for implementation of organising plans. Contribute to the delivery of the campaign's education and training program. Recruiting and developing the capacity of new activists to undertake campaign activities in their local community. Organising logistics, material distribution, and turnout to successfully execute campaign activities and actions. Use digital organising to engage activists online and promote volunteer opportunities. ORGANISATIONAL ACCOUNTABILITIES A commitment to the values of trade unionism and social justice. Capacity to exercise judgment and discretion within a politically sensitive environment. Respect for cultural and social diversity within the workforce and the community. Willingness to work in accordance with Unions Tasmania's policies and procedures. EDUCATIONAL AND WORK EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS High level workplace organising experience and/or campaigning skills. Demonstrated capacity to develop, plan and deliver on campaign objectives. Capacity to provide insight into the ongoing development and roll out of a successful campaign strategy. Highly developed organisational and time management skills enabling the capacity to work consistently under pressure and to meet deadlines. Demonstrated ability to maintain positive working relationships across the union movement. Experience using social media platform including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Experience at using communication platforms like Whats App, Messenger and Zoom/Teams. Experience at using CRM's such as Action Network and Nation Builder. REMUNERATION An attractive remuneration package will be offered to the successful applicant, which will include: Flexible working arrangements. Salary of $90,307 per annum. 17% employer superannuation contributions.
